Challenge your creativity!
EBEC TEAM DESIGN 2016
Leren Doen is a bike and repair shop based in Den Haag. Besides, it’s an organization that works in close contact with youngsters, providing a workplace where to learn practical skills as bike technicians and mechanics.
The task consisted in building a device that could perform a Wire-Loop challenge: driving a ring through a metal structure without touching it. The expected outcome was a machine with at least 3 degrees of freedom in which no direct manual control was allowed. Only scrap metal and bike parts could be used, together with provided components (screws, bolts, cables etc.).
The participants came up with several original designs, all different from each other. Some team figured out a pulley system, someone else a system of levers. The winning team, Tupalkite, constructed a structure out of welded metal bars as a rail to guide the ring and its support. Are you curious? Check out the photo gallery!
Congratulations to all the participants and to the winners!
