We will explore 3 topics during this conference:
(Aero)space technologies in Earth Observation
Renewable energy
Protection against rising sea levels
Our mission is to educate and inspire both students and working professionals on the developments in these areas by bringing together various stakeholders to explore them.
At Green Horizons, there will be workshops, a panel discussion, an interactive quiz, lunch and networking drinks.
These will be provided by the following partners:
Telespazio: A company that is at the forefront in many sectors: from the design and development of space systems to the management of launch services and satellites in-orbit control, from Earth observation services to communications, navigation and satellites tracking to scientific programs.
Survey Intelligence: A company that monitors ground deformation using satellite images. They convert earth observation data into reliable information to understand how ground movements can affect the safety of infrastructure. Survey Intelligence will demonstrate with real-life examples how to use earth observation data to solve complex issues caused by climate change.
CGI: As an information and technology consulting company, their Space Unit will demonstrate essential analyses using satellite data for sectors such as Energy, Utilities, Climate, and Environment. They will present how important changes in monitoring our planet and its infrastructure can be performed using satellite data from optical, thermal, and radar sensors.
Biosphere Solar: A global collective, based in Delft, developing a fair and circular solar panel. They are setting a new design standard for the solar industry, making circularity and transparency the norm. They will discuss the current challenges of solar energy, Biosphere's development of a fair and circular solar panel, as well as the potential of an open source production line of solar.
TNO: A research institute whose Climate & Biodiversity Consultant, Claire van der Wal, will give an insightful workshop about developments in her field, and will add valuable material to the panel discussion! The speaker has a vast amount of experience at WUR, NASA, RIVM and TNO, and will offer an eye-opening window into the world of earth observation.
Water Insight BV: An water company that offers commercial products and services in water quality remote sensing, and uses these techniques for water management. Their mission is to provide water quality information products based on their award-winning optical in-situ sensors and satellite data processing methods.
GreenTU: The green office of TU Delft, part of the university's corporate office. They’re a student organisation that aims to improve TU Delft's sustainability performance in education, research, operations and the university community.
Esther Roosenbrand: An Aerospace PhD candidate, who is doing research on contrail formation (the white plumes that you see coming out of airplanes) using satellite data. What is the impact on the environment of these contrails, and how can we develop models to reduce them being created?
Tickets cost €2.5 for students and €10 for everyone else. As the event approaches, we will keep you posted on what to prepare and expect. We look forward to having you join us on May 4th!
