Spring Course 2014
In the spring of 2014 BEST Delft organized again a Spring Course at the TU Delft. The topic of this year was “Sustainable transport and mobility”. A total of 232 students applied for this course from all over Europe. 22 of them were selected based on their background and affinity with the topic and their motivation to visit Delft and the University. During the week the participants stayed in the Kruithuis, a 17th century monument formerly used as storage for ammunition, but now used by a Scouting group.
During the Spring Course the students received lectures from professors on several topics: They learned about sustainable trends in freight transportation, such as automated driving for trucks. Other lectures were given about road transportation, development of the Second Maasvlakte in the Port of Rotterdam, and rail transportation. With the information of the lectures, the students could work on a case in groups and present their solution during the exam.
Besides the academic part, the students had a social part. They dressed in orange to visit the center of Delft during the celebration of the first King’s Day! In the evenings there were a lot of fun activities such as cantus and the International Evening, were the students could present some food, drinks and song’s from their country.
